Visa Process
UK Student Visa is for international students aged 16 and above who are interested in pursuing education at a recognized UK learning institution. Indian students should first fulfill the admission criteria, financial requirements, and English proficiency requirements before making their application. It will be helpful for you to know about the visa procedure from the beginning.
After accepting an eligible offer and meeting the university's requirements, your institution will issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). This electronic reference confirms your course details and is essential for your Student visa application. You must apply within six months of receiving your CAS.
Complete the Student visa application online through the official UK government website. Students applying from outside the UK can submit their applications up to six months before their course begins. Make sure your application details match your passport and CAS information.
The Student visa application fee for applications made outside the UK is currently £558. Students must also pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), currently £776 per year, calculated according to the applicable visa period. These charges are separate from university tuition fees and living expenses.
Follow the instructions provided during your online application to verify your identity. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to attend an appointment at a designated Visa Application Centre in India to provide fingerprints and a photograph. You may also need to upload supporting documents through the specified service.
Provide a valid passport and your CAS reference number. Depending on your circumstances, you may also need financial evidence, English-language evidence, a tuberculosis (TB) test certificate, or an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate. Check the official requirements carefully before submitting your application.
Applications made outside the UK are usually decided within three weeks, although processing times can vary. Once your visa is approved, follow the instructions to access your eVisa and check your permission to travel. Eligible students can generally arrive up to one month before a course lasting more than six months, but never before the start date permitted by their visa.
Cost Breakdown
Plan your study-abroad budget with a clear understanding of tuition fees, accommodation, daily expenses, healthcare surcharges, and travel costs. Your total expenses will depend on your university, course, city, and lifestyle. The estimates below are intended as a general guide for Indian students.

Yes, absolutely. Indian students can join the bachelor’s programmes after passing Class 12 in India, if they fulfill the admission criteria and English language requirements of the university. Certain students might have to undergo an introductory programme according to their qualifications and chosen course.
Among some popular choices are Computer Science, Data Science and Analytics, Business Administration (MBA), Finance & Fintech, Civil & Structural Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Law, and Design & Creative Arts. Which one you should choose will depend on your academic profile, interests, career aspirations, finances, and eligibility criteria.
The requirements will differ from one institution to another and also depending on the study level or course. For undergraduates, the basic requirement is the Class 12 qualification. However, for postgraduates, there should be a recognized bachelor’s degree. Other requirements include the demonstration of English fluency and/or work experience.
It will be dependent on your university, course, location, and lifestyle. The cost of tuition may differ significantly in the case of undergraduates and graduates. One should also allocate money for accommodation, food, transport, books, travelling, and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).
